Monitoring Phycocyanin with Landsat 8/Operational Land Imager Orange Contra-Band

چکیده

The Operational Land Imager (OLI) onboard the Landsat 8 satellite has a panchromatic band (503–676 nm) that been used to compute virtual spectral known as “orange contra-band” (590–635 nm). major application of orange contra-band is monitoring cyanobacteria which usually quantified by measurement concentration phycocyanin (PC) an absorption peak around 620 nm. In this study, we evaluated use approach for estimating PC from in situ proximal hyperspectral data Eagle Creek Reservoir (ECR), Indiana, USA. We first validated empirical relationship computation using panchromatic, red, and green bands ECR. retrieval were not successful when entire dataset (R2 < 0.1) or only concentrations higher than 50 mg/m3 0.24). Better results achieved samples was 1.5 times chlorophyll-a = 0.84). These highlighted need development remote sensing algorithms accurate estimation non-PC dominant waters could be track and/or predict blooms.

Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager Design, Characterization and Performance

The Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat-8 represents a generational change from heritage Landsat instruments in its design, while it maintains data continuity with the 40+ year Landsat data archive. It preserves the 30-m ground sample distance, 185-km swath width and VIS/NIR/SWIR spectral bands. Furthermore, data continuity resulted from extensive pre-launch and on-orbit calibration and ch...

Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) Radiometric Performance On-Orbit

Expectations of the Operational Land Imager (OLI) radiometric performance onboard Landsat-8 have been met or exceeded. The calibration activities that occurred prior to launch provided calibration parameters that enabled ground processing to produce imagery that met most requirements when data were transmitted to the ground. Since launch, calibration updates have improved the image quality even...

Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager Radiometric Calibration and Stability

The Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) was radiometrically calibrated prior to launch in terms of spectral radiance, using an integrating sphere source traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards of spectral irradiance. It was calibrated on-orbit in terms of reflectance using diffusers characterized prior to launch using NIST traceable standards. The radian...

The Spectral Response of the Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager

This paper discusses the pre-launch spectral characterization of the Operational Land Imager (OLI) at the component, assembly and instrument levels and relates results of those measurements to artifacts observed in the on-orbit imagery. It concludes that the types of artifacts observed and their magnitudes are consistent with the results of the pre-launch characterizations. The OLI in-band resp...

Refractive Dual Band Infrared Imager Optical Design

Infrared imagers are important for reorganization and monitoring. This paper discusses the design of an infrared imager. Optical design in medium wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long wavelength infrared (LWIR) bands is different and needs distinct detectors and materials. Reflective systems are not suitable due to their small field of view (FOV) and vignetting. Refractive dual band optical syste...
